A Preliminary Word About Safeguard

Safeguard and its related projects are under renovation as articles that warned against the events which led to the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol which were previously posted on its companion website The Pledge Site or published on Medium are being updated so that they can be ported to Safeguard in a new context as we move forward into the 2024 election.

Safeguard and The Pledge Site (which hosts and more fully explains the centerpiece of this project: The Pledge to Safeguard the Constitution, the summary version of which is available to read and for your signature and to share here) have and will continue to identify and provide legislative and other remedies to the two most imminent authoritarian threats to our constitutional democracy (which the Capitol attack brought into sharp focus): unrestrained presidential power and archaic electoral laws, both of which are still ripe for abuse.

The two platforms when fully integrated can be used to create an active community determined to pressure Congress to curb excessive presidential power and threats to our electoral system and to exhort other entities to take parallel actions.

If you want new excerpts from The War After the Election and fresh insights and solutions regarding this struggle in the 2024 election and beyond - or even to become politically involved in shaping the direction of events regarding them - this newsletter is for you.
