These Down Ballot Offices Could Stop a 2024 Trump Electoral Coup
Republican Politicians May Try to Choose Our Next President in a "Contingent Election" After November 5. Voters Must Cast Votes Down Ballot for These Offices to Stop It.

There are links ate the end of this article to help you locate the key candidates and offices that are competitive and which could be crucial to prevent an Trumpist electoral coup or to prevail in one if it should be necessary.
You as an active citizen journalist (or even simply as a citizen who wants to make your vote count) can focus your efforts to be more effective in stopping the Trump network's "ongoing electoral coup" so that it doesn't succeed in jamming up the electoral process and lead to a contingent election after November 5 (or to help thwart it if it does). If there is not a clear cut winner from the electoral results (an outcome that the Trump apparatus would be trying to provoke if it’s to their advantage to do so), the election will be thrown into the hands of politicians - and it is important that voters intelligently cast ballots for their state and local candidates in this election for those offices which would then ultimately choose the next president of the United States.
#VoteBlueDownBallot - Or Republican Politicians Might Choose Our Next President Through an Electoral Coup describes the potential of this happening, but only broadly identifies what these important offices are. As a voter, it is important to EXACTLY pinpoint those offices that are significant in your particular state and localities. As a citizen journalist (which can be anybody who has a social media platform) you can spotlight these offices both within and OUTSIDE your own localities in order to have an even greater effect in the swing states, counties and districts that will be important nationally.
If you think that the possibility of an electoral coup is hyperbole, watch this Rachel Maddow video clip to learn what's been going on.
While the Electoral Count Reform Act and the Supreme Court's striking down of the Independent State Legislature Theory have rectified some of the potential problems regarding electoral manipulation, there are many ways in which a determined effort to subvert the electoral system could be effective. These potentialities must be countered proactively versus reactively.
Electing the proper candidates as Secretaries of State, state legislators and to attorney/prosecutor and law enforcement/sheriffs offices is vital to countering a potential electoral coup.
There are also 70 counties in the United States in which election officials might avoid certifying the results from their counties, which would throw sand in the gears of the electoral system. Attention must be focused on these 70 counties, and electing the right officials to attorney/prosecutor and law enforcement/sheriffs offices will make election deniers hesitate to stray from lawfully conducting their electoral duties. This means that voters must be made aware of the importance of these offices and vote for candidates who will properly enforce the law.
This video clip goes into more detail regarding what’s been happening on the county level:
Part of the strategy of this series and its ancillary posts is to help all of us focus our efforts on the 25 to 50 House districts and the seven Senate seats at play in the federal election, and the 70 counties and other relevant local offices – all of which might determine the outcome of the presidential election.
Below are some links through which you can identify the most competitive offices at play in key swing states, and also in which election deniers specifically are up for election. You can use these lists to identify candidates in your own state and localities in order to know who to vote for or oppose (and make your friends and colleagues aware of them). Or if you want to be more ambitious, you can become a citizen journalist and spread the word to areas besides your own. This article advises how you can most effectively do so: We Are All the Media Now.
Democracy Docket lists hundreds of election deniers on the ballot in seven swing states (Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin). Many of the lower level offices identified in this article could also be significant in a contingent election.
Ballotpedia identifies 54 House seats in play.
Cook Political Report lists 26 to 43 competitive House districts.
The difference in the number of House seats in play varies widely depending on how “competitive” is defined, and because of different polling methods as well as interpretations of those polling methods. For example, the 2016 polls failed to identify “hidden” Trump voters, and the 2022 polls which predicted a “red wave” failed to identify Democrats who voted in contradiction to the polling. If in doubt regarding a race where you think you might make a difference, err on the side of getting involved with it because polls might be underestimating support for Democratic candidates in the 2024 election so the district might very well be in play.
The last link regards the candidates in seven Senate races that NBC News and others have identified as seven competitive Senate seats. Even the Senate could ultimately play a role in selecting a president in a contingent election.
It’s mind-boggling to think about how these and various local races will affect a contingent election. The main thing is to first of all know your own offices and candidates, and then to make a contribution of time and effort in other races if you can. There is enough information available here and elsewhere on the internet to get started. It’s important that you do so.
I will try to post more links regarding various races or updates on them. You can do the same in the comments section.
Subsequent articles will present further ways to counter the politicians and election officials who might be tempted to join or remain part of the Trump network's ongoing coup plans.
